League of 100 is Growing
TACL now has a family of more than 50 members in the League of 100. See their names here:
http://www.tacl-va.org/league.html . We still need more passionate lovers of public art to help us reach our project goals and assist with events and planning. League members are encouraged to reach out to a friend or colleague in December and invite them to join. Family memberships are $150, singles members are $100 and students are $30. In addition to having a voice in Public Art, League Members are special guests at the art&garden opening night party on Thursday, May 4, 2017 – save the date!

HOLIDAY LIGHTS AS PUBLIC ART
Greg Lilly, President of Triangle Arts & Culture League (TACL), Inc., announced today that TACL is sponsoring a unique Public Art contest for the holidays. TACL’s Truly Terrific Holiday Lights Contest has $700 in prize money that will be awarded to two, first place $250 winners and two, second place $100 winners. Winners will also receive a wearable trophy.
"The holidays inspire us to make art for our neighbors and community with such materials as lights, garland, wreaths and music in both religious and whimsical displays," Lilly says. "TACL wants to spotlight holiday art and artists."
Category One is TACL’s Totally Terrific Public Art Lawn Display. Judges in this category will be looking for over-the-top holiday lawn decor that includes any combination of colored lights (blinking and synchronization encouraged), inflatables, signs, cut-out figures, illuminated plastic figures and a more-is-more attitude.
Category Two is TACL’s Truly Traditional Public Art Lawn Display. Winners in this category will decorate with lavish displays of white lights, greenery and natural decorations such as fruit, shells, paper, ribbon, cones, wood and branches, etc.
The contest judges are members of TACL’s League of 100, and they will be viewing neighborhoods in the City of Williamsburg, James City County and York County through December 26. The four winners will be announced in early January.
If your holiday lights display is Totally Terrific or Truly Traditional, email your address [email protected], so TACL judges are sure to find you.
All season long, TACL League of 100 judges will be posting their favorite light displays to the Triangle Arts & Culture League Facebook page (www.facebook.com/TriangleWJYLeague3/). Visit the page to see our area's Truly Terrific and Traditional displays.
Post photos to your own Facebook page or on Twitter, using the hashtag #tacl-lights to alert TACL and the Historic Triangle area to more Truly Terrific Holiday Lights.
